A Flood Alert Update has been issued for Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire Council said on 26 October 20261. The council said high spring tides together with a storm surge, spray and wave overtopping associated with a further storm system are likely to cause coastal flooding impacts around the times of high water through Tuesday1.
The Met Office has issued another Yellow weather warning for strong west to southwesterly winds across much of Scotland from 3am to 9pm on Tuesday 27 October1. Gusts of 50-60mph are possible quite widely and some coastal or exposed areas could see gusts of 70mph or more, the council said1. It said the spell of strong winds may lead to damaging gusts and transport disruption1.
The council set out the expected coastal impacts and the wind warning in its own words:
"Impacts could include flooding of coastal roads, properties and travel disruption. Coastal flooding impacts may continue into Wednesday morning."

| Wind warning | Yellow, much of Scotland, 3am to 9pm Tuesday 27 October1 |

The update follows Storm Boelo. As of the morning of 26 October, two thirds of customers impacted by Storm Boelo across Scotland had had their power restored, the council said1. SSEN has provided a welfare support facility at Finzean Hall, Banchory, AB31 6LY1. The council said a number of schools remain closed through power loss or damage, while some have delayed openings or changes to timetabling and transportation, and that parents, guardians and carers will be updated directly by headteachers1. With the exception of Banchory, all household recycling centres were open on 26 October and household and trade collections were operating as normal, with operations to be assessed the following day in light of the further weather warning1.
The council said the road network has not yet fully recovered and many locations will continue to be affected by fallen trees, branches and other debris1. It said it does not encourage people to attempt to clear fallen trees on safety grounds, citing the serious risk from overhanging branches, other weakened trees and live electricity wires1. It asked for fallen trees to be reported on 03456 081205 during office hours, to Police Scotland on 101 out of hours, and 999 in an emergency1. It strongly discouraged members of the public from moving fallen trees, branches or other debris where these are in contact with, resting against or close to lighting columns, cables or other electrical infrastructure, and said damaged or displaced columns, exposed equipment and electrical cabling should be treated with particular caution1.
Why it matters for households
Households in Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City are covered by the flood alert, with coastal flooding impacts expected around the times of high water through Tuesday and possibly into Wednesday morning1. The council lists flooding of coastal roads, properties and travel disruption among the possible impacts1. The wind warning covers much of Scotland from 3am to 9pm on Tuesday, and the council said those considering travelling should plan ahead and avoid any unnecessary journeys, allow extra time and drive to conditions if travel cannot be avoided1. The council's advice is that it is your responsibility to take actions which help protect yourself and your property, and it points to SEPA for advice and information1. Households still without power can visit the council's leisure centres, with the exception of Ellon Community Campus, for a free shower, hot teas and coffee, wifi and device charging, the council said1. It also listed phone numbers for power outages via SSEN on 105, non-urgent medical issues via NHS on 111, emergency council housing repairs on 03456 081203 and emergency social care on 03456 0812061. The council said rail services and public transport may be disrupted and pointed to ScotRail for the latest information1.
What happens next
The wind warning runs from 3am to 9pm on Tuesday 27 October1. Coastal flooding impacts may continue into Wednesday morning1. The council said teams will assess recycling and waste operations on Tuesday in light of the further weather warning1. It said its Housing and Property teams are inspecting reports of damage across the council estate and will start repairs as quickly as they can, and that Landscape Services are assessing burial grounds and country parks, with the public asked to avoid areas around fallen or weakened trees1.
