Ideal Heating is the trading name used by Ideal Boilers Ltd, a boiler manufacturer based at National Avenue in Hull, East Yorkshire, HU5 4JB1. The company makes gas boilers for UK homes, and its user guides carry the contact numbers a household needs when something goes wrong: a consumer helpline on 01482 498660 and a technical helpline on 01482 4986632.
If your boiler has stopped working, the first thing to do is read the fault code on the display and ring the consumer helpline on 01482 498660, quoting the code, because several codes mean an engineer needs to visit3. If you are a heating engineer or need technical help with an installation, the technical helpline is 01482 4986632. If you need a spare part, ring 01482 498665, and fit only parts authorised by Ideal Heating rather than reconditioned or copy parts4.
This page sets out what the company makes, which number to ring for what, the registered company details, and the one product recall that affects an Ideal boiler range.
What Ideal Heating makes for UK households
Ideal Heating's range is built around gas boilers, in three broad arrangements that suit different homes. The difference matters to a household because it decides what happens to your heating and hot water in a power cut or a gas failure, and what you can do about it yourself.
- Combi boilers heat water on demand and need no hot water cylinder. The range includes the Logic Combi2, the Logic MAX Combi2, the Vogue Gen2 Combi and the Logic Combi ESP17.
- System boilers work with a separate hot water cylinder. The range includes the Logic System2, the Logic MAX System2, the Logic+ System2 and the Vogue MAX System10.
- Heat-only (regular) boilers work with a cylinder and a pair of water tanks, usually in a loft. The Logic Heat range comes in outputs of 12kW, 15kW, 18kW, 24kW and 30kW, and the Logic+ Heat works with a cylinder and a pair of water tanks to provide central heating and hot water12.

The company also lists a heat pump user guide (the HP290) and a solar thermal cylinder guide (the Thermstore and Solar Thermstore) among its product documentation14. Its boilers are gas appliances, and the Logic 2 Combi and System range is recorded as a domestic gas boiler of United Kingdom origin in the official recall notice6.
For what to do when the boiler stops, when the gas supply fails or when the heating will not come on, our guide to gas and heating failures sets out the household steps in order. If the problem is a power cut rather than the boiler, see power cuts.
Which Ideal Heating number to ring
Ideal Heating publishes three helpline numbers, and using the right one saves time. The consumer helpline handles household queries and arranges engineer visits. The technical helpline is for technical help, the kind an installer or a heating engineer would want. The parts line is for ordering spares.
| Number | Line | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| 01482 498660 | Consumer helpline | Boiler queries, callouts and assistance for householders5 |
| 01482 498663 | Technical helpline | Technical help14 |
| 01482 498665 | Parts line | Ordering Ideal spare parts17 |
| 01482 492251 | Head office switchboard | General contact with Ideal Boilers Ltd in Hull1 |
| 02890 331444 | Northern Ireland | Breakdown of the control under guarantee5 |
The company's own support articles tell customers to call Customer Services on 01482 498660 for boiler callouts and assistance16. One user guide gives a separate Northern Ireland number, 02890 331444, for a breakdown of the control under guarantee, with 01482 498660 for the rest of the UK5.
Reading the fault code before you ring
Most modern Ideal boilers show a fault code as a letter and a number flashing in turn on the display. Knowing the code, and whether a reset has already been tried, is what the helpline will ask for. The company's fault code pages list what each code means19.
| Code | Meaning | What the maker says to do |
|---|---|---|
| F1 | Low pressure | Check the pressure and top up as the guide describes9 |
| F3 | Fan fault | Contact Ideal Heating quoting F3, as it needs an engineer visit3 |
| F4 | Flow thermistor | Contact Ideal Heating quoting F4, as it needs an engineer visit3 |
| F6 | Outside sensor fault | Reset the boiler, then contact Ideal Heating quoting F6 if that does not fix it19 |
| L1 | Flow temperature overheat or no water flow | Reset the boiler, then contact Ideal Heating if it does not fix the problem20 |
| L2 | (listed code) | Call Ideal Heating quoting L2 if the problem is not fixed3 |
| L4 | Flow thermistor fault | Contact Ideal Heating quoting L4, as it needs an engineer visit19 |
| C0 | BCC activation fault | Contact Ideal Heating19 |
| C2 | BCC chip fault | Reset the boiler, then contact Ideal Heating quoting C2 if that does not fix it19 |
| FD | No water flow | Contact Ideal Heating19 |
| SE | Service interval timer | Contact the installer19 |
A few codes are handled differently. A false flame lockout (L06) is cleared by restarting the appliance4. If the boiler still does not fire after a thermostat check, contact Ideal Heating, as it needs an engineer visit19. If the central heating gets warm while hot water is running on a combi boiler, contact Ideal Heating, as that also needs an engineer visit19.
Registered office and company details
Ideal Boilers Ltd gives its registered office as National Avenue, Hull, East Yorkshire, HU5 4JB, with a telephone number of 01482 492251 and a fax number of 01482 4488581. The company registration number is London 322 1371. The same details appear in the company information printed at the back of the boiler user guides, alongside the consumer and technical helpline numbers10.
One older guide gives a postal address of PO Box 103, National Avenue, Kingston Upon Hull, HU5 4JN15. The HU5 4JB address is the one repeated across the current guides, so use that for letters.
The company also names an EU authorised representative for European Union matters: Atlantic SFDT, 44 Boulevard des Etats-Unis, 85 000 La Roche-Sur-Yon, France, telephone +33 (0)2 51 44 34 3410. That address is for the EU representative, not a UK service line, so UK households should use the Hull numbers for faults and service.

Made under an ISO 9001 quality system
Ideal Heating states in its user guides that its appliances are manufactured under an ISO 9001 registered quality management system21. The Vogue MAX System guide adds the registration number FM 59915 alongside the same statement11.
ISO 9001 is an international standard for quality management. In practice, a factory registered to it has documented procedures for how work is done and checked, and is audited against them. It says something about consistency of manufacture. It is not a measure of how efficient a particular boiler is, and it is not a safety certification for the appliance itself.
The Logic Heat range carries a separate endorsement: the maker states that the model is endorsed by the Energy Saving Trust thanks to its efficient design12.
Servicing, warranty and spare parts
Ideal Heating's servicing guide states that when an annual service is completed you will not receive physical paperwork, but a digital record will be saved in Ideal Heating's system22. If you need proof that the boiler was serviced, for example when selling a home, that record is held by the company rather than in your paperwork.
The Logic Max Heat guide states that a warranty is available when the appliance is registered within 30 days of installation23. Register promptly after a new boiler goes in, and keep a note of the date.
On spare parts, the guides are consistent across the range: use only spare parts that conform to the safety and performance specification, and do not use reconditioned or copy parts that have not been clearly authorised by Ideal Heating4. This applies to the Logic Heat2, Logic Combi2, Logic Combi ESP1, Logic MAX Heat2, Logic+ System2 and Logic MAX System2 alike.
Safety notices and recalls

The recall notice records the product as a gas appliance and component, a domestic gas boiler, of United Kingdom origin6. It is the one recall affecting an Ideal boiler range in the official record.
Separately, if you have a carbon monoxide alarm or a smoke alarm in the home, check it works. Scottish Government guidance on the tolerable standard calls for one heat alarm installed in every kitchen24. Our guide to home emergencies covers fire, carbon monoxide, gas leaks and burst pipes, and our guide to heating and cooking without mains power or gas covers what to do if the boiler is out of action for a stretch.
Where to get help
For a boiler fault, ring the consumer helpline on 01482 498660 and have the fault code and the boiler model to hand12. For a gas emergency, such as a smell of gas, leave the property and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999; our guide to gas and heating failures explains the steps.
If money is tight and you are in Scotland, the Home Heating Support Fund takes applications through trusted referral partners, including Citizens Advice and local councils, rather than directly from households25. In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, ask your local council or Citizens Advice about local support.
Households that depend on heating for a medical condition, or that would struggle in a power cut, can ask their energy supplier to add them to the Priority Services Register. Our guide to extra help in an emergency explains who qualifies and how to register.
