POM power banks sold by TK Maxx recalled over fire risk

The Office for Product Safety and Standards published a recall on 1 June 2026 for POM power banks sold by TK Maxx and Homesense, after TJX UK recalled the products from end users1. The recall covers seven product lines with a 5000 mAh battery, sold between December 2025 and May 2026 and made in China1.

The hazard is set out in the notice: "The products present a risk of fire as the internal wiring is not securely attached. This could lead to wires loosening during use. Loose wiring may cause the product to short-circuit, overheat and catch fire."1 The notice states the products do not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 20051. The notification number is 2605-0127, and it was notified by Local Authority Trading Standards1.

The affected model numbers are listed by product line1:

A second, separate recall published on 3 June 2026 covers a Power Evo Wireless Charging Power Bank 5V sold by TK Maxx, in models MAGVOLT5BLACK and MAGVOLT5WHITE, sold between February 2025 and August 20252. That notice gives the same underlying hazard, stating the product "presents a risk of fire as the internal wiring is insecurely attached, which may lead to overheating and fires", and that it does not meet the General Product Safety Regulations 20052. Owners are advised to stop using it immediately and return it to TK Maxx for a refund or replacement2. Its notification number is 2605-01962.

Why it matters for households

Power banks are commonly kept for charging phones during a power cut, so a recalled unit may be sitting charged in a home without its owner knowing. The recall applies to units bought in TK Maxx and Homesense stores in the sales periods given, not to POM or Power Evo products generally; the notices do not state how many units are affected, and no injuries or fires linked to these products have been reported in them1. The Office for Product Safety and Standards advises owners to stop using the affected units immediately and return them to a TK Maxx or Homesense store for a refund or replacement, and TK Maxx publishes the recall information on its own website1. Households checking whether a power bank is affected can compare the model number on the unit against the lists above, and our guide on how to check if an electrical product has been recalled sets out where recall notices are published. For anyone replacing a unit kept for outages, our guides on power banks for keeping phones charged in an emergency and on choosing between a power bank and a portable power station explain the differences between the two.

What happens next

The recall notices are dated 1 June 2026 and 3 June 2026, and returns are handled at TK Maxx and Homesense stores under the terms in each notice1. No closing date for returns, and no further steps beyond the return and refund or replacement, have been reported1.
